What type of business are you?

IF YOU ARE A RESTAURANT

Do you also provide a buffet option and do you cater for functions and events?

If 'YES', the government says you do not have the required skills need to hire non EU Chefs.

Is the food you serve in buffet and in volume event catering the SAME 'skilled' food you serve as a single dish serving restaurant ?  What effect is the barrier to overseas Chefs having on your business?

If 'NO', are you having to refuse buffet and event catering to comply with rules for having non EU Chefs on board?  To what extent are you losing out, both in terms of revenue and in the missing out on the home dining trend

IF YOU ARE A HOTEL, EVENTS CATERER, CENTRAL KITCHEN BASED RESTAURANT OPERATION OR FOOD MANUFACTURER

The 'shortage' criteria casts your operation as a low skill 'fast food' or 'standard fare' outlet, thus disqualifying you from access to non EU Chefs,  in spite of the highest possible skill sets and expertise involved at your level.

What are your thoughts, on this and what impact is this prevention having on your business?

If the barriers to non EU professional Chefs were removed tomorrow and you could hire, what would it mean for you and your business?  Would you be able to grow and expand,  eg. creating additional local employment , training,  benefits to the wider economy, more VAT and PAYE for the exchequer etc.
